Microsoft has made lots of improvements in Windows 10 Update. It has come up with one more feature, Action Center aka(also known as) Notification Center.
If there are any new notifications available on Action Center, Windows shows the notifications count on Action Center icon in Taskbar. It helps Windows users in easily and quickly noticing new notifications.
The Action Center will show you all of your past notifications until you manually clear them.
You can also personalized Quick Actions to easily open or toggle on/off applications or settings such as Airplane mode, Location, Tablet Mode, Wifi, VPN, Connect, Display and All settings.

You can easily enable or disable option by following simple steps:

Right-click on Action Center system icon on the taskbar notification area.

If you want to hide the number of new notifications on Action Center icon, then select
“Don’t show number of new notifications”option from the context menu. You’ll now no longer see the number of notifications on the Action Center icon. -
If you want to show the number of new notifications on Action Center icon, then select
“Show number of new notifications”option from the context menu. You’ll now start getting number of notifications on the Action Center icon.
